Spotters....
If anyone notices dune racers jumping without a spotter, please remind them they MUST have one. Too many accidents already this year because riders "didn't know". Thanks guys(and gals) No one is exempt from the stupidity of others. Sorry if this sounds a bit like a rant, but it is. Statistics of these incidents do not help our cause. Have a great day !!!

Re: Spotters....
You are absolutely correct.
It is something I constantly worry about.
I'm always creeping up on a blow off edge because I don't know when some death or glory king is going to impress some 14 year old girl by jumping without a spotter.
I'll be posting a update to this with some sad pics later in the week.

Re: Spotters....
Ok, here is my rant....
As most of you know I was recently at Winchester Bay riding...
Saturday was beautiful..... And I expected a full play ground.
Here is what there was..
Looks great! Almost nobody there...
So I didn't expect to see this:
Then, about an hour later, this:
Why?
In one case it was poor rider training.
The other... Jumping without a spotter...
I watched a younger rider maybe 18? Burn rubber out of the lot (Oh, impressive) , spin sideways, head straight for the dunes and start flying off the blow offs.
On about the 4th blow off he was bucked up into the air so that his feet came off the pegs and he let go with one hand.
Keep in mind this was not on purpose.
At the same time some other quad rider west cresting the rise of the same blow off and in line for a head on.
Somehow, the out of control reject came down, got his quad under control and barely missed the other rider.
Just like that someone could have been killed or seriously hurt.
We are all there to have some fun....but I don't want to get killed over someone elses cheap thrill....

Re: Spotters....
Yesterday we collected another dirt bike jumping w/o. The bike steering stem was broke! And the shock tower of the rail went through engine case. I would have got pics, but I was busy a couple miles away. Im told it was a new KX 450F. Sounds like we will have to eat the cost of a new front beam. He didn't have insurance or D/L. Hey....new topic: Off road insurance. (Mine is through Safeco)

Re: Spotters....
I would urge everyone to get hooked up. I pay about $14 bucks a month for my KX250. And you can get a discount on your car ins. because its then "multi-policy". My car insurance went down $16. Im not a math wiz.....but that pencils out well.
