Re: KX GURU Racing kx500 Engine in a 2016 KTM 250 SX PUMPKIN SEEDS BUILD
I was looking at the ORV laws for Michigan state ORV trails and here is the noise standard (besides requiring a spark arrestor):
"Exhaust noise must not exceed 99 dB(A)—or 94 dB(A) on
vehicles manufactured after January 1, 1986—when tested
according to the provisions of the SAE J1287 test."
Never gave it a second thought on the KDXs, but I'm a bit concerned about the K5.

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

We have noise and arrestor laws here in Oregon.
I have never had a issue as the KX500 has a lower tone then smaller bikes.
Guys get pulled over left and right to be tested and I ride by in a high gear and low throttle.
I've only gotten one look as I went by but I think it is because my bike looks so good

Lol... No, nothing like that.
I'm waiting for some parts so I can move forward.
I've been designing, redesigning, welding, machining, rewelding, remachining, ect the Guru valves.
Turns out they were a bit more difficult then I intended.
But I have made significant progress on them and I believe after I pick them up this week I can hand work the final machine work and test them out.
Before I install them in my KTX I will be testing them in my Sand bike to be sure they operate as intended and with some reliability.
Once proven I will take the top end off and swap it into the KTX.
As soon as the pipe gets here... hopefully this week, I can do a final mock up... take some pics.... then if everything fits good I can disassemble and send the frame off to the powder coater for some Kiwi green and clear coat

I finally got my Cerakote gear set up and decided to try some color.
So what better part to try it on then my back up 2 piece clutch cover...

Since I don't think we will have the Turbo Crank figured out for the 500 in time for this build to be completed, I'm building a new crank...

I'm also double checking all the fittings and clearances...
This side is tight but has just enough clearance...
