Re: KX GURU Racing 2016 KTM 250 SX PUMPKIN SEEDS BUILD
You can see by this pic that Jason and I cleaned up the front mounting area of the frame rails..
Jason is cleaning out he rear mounting area for the frame rails.
It is a real pain so if your gonna do it, be aware that the 450 rails we used are 1.5-2mm wider then the 250 rails.

Yeah, you gotta clean out all the old rail material... have fun...
Easy does it... Take a little off.. check the fit... Mark it... take a bit more off... Check it...

Jason loves grinding
Good thing because the swingarm needs just a bit of clearance to the engine case and clutch cover.
Jason is aligning the engine with the frame rails, swingarm, sprockets, and a host of other issues

I think we can re-position the KTM mounts and weld them back on...
Time will tell..
Now that we think we have the engine clocked correctly it's time to see if the pipe will fit..
That looks good...

Jason and I took a little trip to the KTM Dealer in Springfield, Or yesterday.

Super nice guys.
They let us take a few measurements and throw a bath scale under some wheels.
What we found had some surprises for us.
These are all 2017 models.
Remember, these were done with a bath scale so if yours weighs a bit more or less don't whine
Also, these are in lbs
125 SX 17 Front 88.2 Rear 89.0 49.77% on the front.
250 SX 17 Front 90.8 Rear 93.4 49.29% on the front
250 SX-F 17 Front 104.4 Rear 93.4 52.78% on the front
450 SX-F 17 Front 107.4 Rear 93.4 53.48% on the front
KX500 01 Front 116.4 Rear 125.4 48.13% on the front
KX500 94 Front 92.4 Rear 127.4 42.03% on the front
kX450F 10 Front 128.6 Rear 127.6 50.2% on the front
KX250 99 with KX500 engine Front 117 Rear 102 53.42% on the front
A full tank of gas will add about 16lb on a KX500.
I need to get a KX500 completely stock and empty the fuel to see where it is at.
Also, I don't know if the KTM's had rad fluid in them..
Additionally, 1 liter of oil weighs about 2 lb and I don't know if they had any oil in them.
My point in this was to see the difference in weight transfer from front to rear.
Which will give me a idea of where the KTX should come in.
