Fired!
Today I ran 3 heat cycles and took her out for a 2 mile and then a 10 mile ride..
To lean for the current compression and fuel but I can fix that
Ready for some dyno work..

Next I'll get it sandblasted and get some paint.
I'm not sure about the color yet..

Ok.. sanded and painted the pipe and will call it good for now.
After all the testing and tuning this bike will go through I'll be doing a FULL rebuild from the frame up.
But for now this will work.

Yep... Let's get our jetting dialed in
NO, the 02 Sensor will not be a permanent addition.
It's there to get the jetting dialed in and then the EGT will go in to get the jetting really, really, dialed in...

Ok. I have made good progress after some self inflicted ignition issues
I've got the jetting pretty good so I intend to do some dyno numbers next week.
at the current configuration I expect low 50's at the rear wheel.
Remember... This is using a stock carb, pipe, muffler, ignition, and reed, with significantly reduced port timing.
Zero porting has been done.
Reduced port timing will reduce performance...

Re: KX Guru Racing JT Engine Works KX500 Induction Crank testing
Just back from the dyno.
What did we do?
Stock carb
Stock ignition
Stock reed
Stock pipe
Stock muffler w sparky.
Reduced port timing
Bumped compression
Stock Ignition on the center mark. Turns out that is where we made the most power.
Straight C12 with Motul 800 at 50:1
What did we learn?
1. My jetting is still too fat by one or two sizes on the main and that much or more on the needle..
2. The stock ignition makes almost two more hp over the Power D at the timing specs given by the manufacture. So eventually I need to get around to making new Power D timing measurement for the KX500.
3. Ignore the 50 hp... That will do nothing but increase... But look at the power curve.. Do you notice anything interesting?
It looks much more like a 4 stroke
So stay tuned as we will be gaining a lot more HP with simple bolt ons...
Then we will advance the port timing in steps...
And at the end of this... Then I will do some port work...
So stay tuned...

Ok, that's it for this port timing.
We did make a few more ponies and I could keep splitting hairs but it is not worth the expense and time..
Time to bump it up to stock timing.

Fun stuff! It is good to see the bike getting put to good use! Interesting that the stock ignition seems to work better. It will be fun to see the numbers when you test the Power D set up.

Yep... Alex is going to play with it and verify the numbers we have to try.
It should be interesting
