KX Guru Racing 92 KX500 Fast bike build

Post by Sandblaster » Wed May 01, 2019 3:40 am

This is starting out as a very basic build.
Clean inspect, replace, polish, powder coat, ect to build a very nice clean stock chassis.
Humble beginnings.

Stripped, cleaned, painted, baked, clear coated, and baked again.
Why? Because I can

A little work on the Special bike revealed some real ugliness

Finally I'm back on the "Special Bike"

Getting this KX500 rear brake caliper ready to go. Waiting for the new piston to get here.
I've always liked good brakes on my KX500 and since this bike will be incredibly fast I would like to be able to stop it..

Some have complained about after market rebuild kits not fitting correctly. I used a Pro X kit and a Tusk piston. I clean the seal grooves out so they look like they are new. One small bit of debris will cause the piston to bind. Before installation I clean the seals as they are generally dirty straight out of the package. Also, I use some brake fluid to lubricate the seals. The piston should go in with finger pressure only.
