Motorrad

Going to run half and half radiators.

my left team green 3 row, (BIG) rad. and right aftermarket bigger than stock chineese Warp 9 rad.

this will net me the most volume in cooling department

would love to have a custom set of radiators made. I have some GOOD ideas on what to have made. but dont know of any good radiator shops. or anyone else that would want to shell out for them.

Final mock up to check port time on all new parts. My math was good Timing is on the money. And to mark piston for final mods

dave916

what port timing are u running?

Motorrad

Dropping back down to 191. Was up at 199. But I also have more variance on my kips than stock (more range).

Motorrad

199 made a awesome ride and killer dunes motor. But for real world desert 191 was my favorite riding motor

Spent the better part of the evening installing my pingle petcock. Doing more piston mods (not done yet).
And finding all the brackets that make my team green radiators fit the bike. As well as a few hours on the couch with some tweezers straightening radiator fins

Sandblaster

Did you run the 191 port timing with your current exhaust valve setup and the exhaust valve divider wall removed?

Motorrad

last time I ran 191 I was still 86mm bore. with stock kippies.

with the 90mm bore I have run 195, 198, and 200

Good

hey Motorrad, at the 199 number what kind of rear wheel power number would you guess that you had? 64-65ish? I'm looking for a reliable but fun and still somewhat competitive dune combo to work towards.

It sure would be nice to have a dyno sheet database to compare HP/TQ curves to pick the combo that we feel would be right for us. I don't need anything extreme, but competetive with the other big bore 2-strokes on the hill and reliability are a must.

Motorrad

setup like my 199 motor. all your bottom end BETTER be d**n good my bike would blip over 10,000K so fast... I feared rods comming appart. Awesome dunes motor though!.

If I was still riding as much dunes as I thought I would when I built that motor. Id still run that setup. but my riding has varied a bit since I have branched out to riding with the socal guys. So I needed to tame her down a squeek.

The last socal ride, all the guys lite off their bikes, and Then I lite off mine. they all then ask "why does yours sound like a GP bike, and ours sound flat"

Motorrad

So went to put top end. And realize I forgot to clean my kips parts. Thought I did. But guess those were USMC

Motorrad

Ring end gap check seconds before final assembly............. .011" hmmmm somthing is wrong.

Break out the bore gauge. Hmm 90mm forged piston should have more than .0015" clearance.

why is it always me that gets shotty parts, or workmanship?

alward25

I agree should be more than .0015" that is way too tight grin typo included

Motorrad

Okay. took VERY carefull measurements. even broke out my GOOD measurement tools. and let everything sit in a 70deg room for 24 hours before I measured. (yes I dissconnected the thermostat from the wall, and brought it into that room, and set it next to all the parts)

Bore 3.5407"
Piston 3.5433"
Clearance of .0026

wossener wants 0.00275"

so a squeeeek tight. (less than most people can measure)
but not the drastic ammount that is throwing off my ring end gaps.

Hmmm

Found my problem. Time to break out big pink
