So... here is what we know.
The mechanical fuel pump was too small for the CR500.
The pipe was cracked.
The muffler was under packed.
All that conspired to lean it to the max.
We have it running great now.
Wheelies are amazing
But, we feel that a different combustion shape and squish band cut will help redirect the intake charge and help richen the mixture.
Also, the addition of a reed spacer will help things along.
So, we have a few more mods to make.
We played with some different carbs...
The 41mm carb worked great up top but due to the slide having a air gap along the side we just couldn't get the idle to work as we wanted.
So, it is what it is... Quick and powerful but there is more there to be had.

We were really excited for Friday night.
Jason and I spent a full day tuning...
It is running awesome.
So Casey (The driver) goes out and takes his practice laps.
He is all over the place and goes off the track twice.
The last time he went off the track he caught some air.
When he came into the pits he was really excited.
He raved about the engine and how good it ran.
So, the owner (Chris) was changing the chassis around to dial it in for the track conditions and discovered a big crack in the frame right under the drivers seat.
Done for the night...
That's racing...
But, there is another race next Friday 8-)
