I have never been able to run a KX500 up to a RPM where the reeds caused any issues being ran at the low tension setting.
Every pipe, carb, port timing, compression, ignition timing I have ran on the dyno all showed more performance while the petals were in the low tension setting.
All my personal KX500's have VF2s and are being ran in the low tension setting.
