Smart carb

Post by Hartmanbw » Sun Dec 02, 2018 5:37 am

Hey guys, so I finally got my guru built snowbike on the snow. Had a couple different opinions about running the smart carb. It worked great on my 300 ktm, and worked pretty well with the stock 500, but not so much with the built motor. So I'm thinking about some alternatives. Looking at the air Stryker pretty hard, thinking about looking into the stic metering block. Thought about running a lectron as well. Any thoughts? Either way I'll have to get another carb heater. Thanks!

I don't know how well the Lectron will work for a snow bike although it should be fine once you get it dialed in..
It will also gain you up to 4hp over a stock carb.

The air striker is a great carb and will gain you 1-2 hp...
The biggest issue is altitude and jetting.
At 5000ft you will loose about 2.5lb per sq in of atmospheric pressure over sea level.
That means less cylinder pressure :o
So jetting becomes more of a issue the higher you go.

Of course a nice pipe can gain you as much as 10 hp or more depending on the specs 8-)
If bikes are for kids I'll never grow up.
