Removing Pull arm bearings?
Removing Pull arm bearings?
Hey SB, how have you removed the bottom clutch pull arm bearing? I have a slide hammer puller for the top, but it will not reach the bottom bearing.

Re: Removing Pull arm bearings?
We had to make a custom puller out of a spoke and a nipple... Lol...
It's really lame but it works.
Especially when you put your case in the oven and bake it a 250f for about 20 minutes.
Oscar Cota has a machinist down in S. California who is going to make a batch of some professional pullers...
I will buy two when they are available.
They will be available sometime down the road...
In the mean time We will continue using the spoke method and the oven..

Look like I'll have to make something up.

Re: Removing Pull arm bearings?
This is a little late for op but I'll just add to this thread for anybody else looking to get that stupid bearing out. I just rebuilt two bottom ends and I was able to use the greasy rag/bread trick (youtube it, there's lots of videos on it) to get the lower bearing up far enough to grab it with my slide hammer. It only worked in one of the cases the other one it broke off the top lip of the outer race and wouldn't move it at all after that. I tried bread but that didn't work at all, grease and rag worked better.
I had piece of aluminum rod that I put in a drill and then spun it on the bench grinder until the OD of it allowed one of those needle bearings to just slip on Then I put bits of rag and grease in the bottom of the blind hole and hammered the aluminum rod down into it. It takes a bit of time and you have to keep adding more grease and rag but it came slowly.
It will only come up so far until the grease starts coming out the hole where clutch push rod goes through, but at that point I could just reach it with my slide hammer Also want to put some keywords in here so it comes up on a Google search easier, I only found this thread after I replaced those bearings lol.

Someone makes a blind bearing puller that is long enough to reach the bottom.
I'll check on it and get back.
The only issue is that you have to buy the whole kit..
