KX500 Crank Gear Spur for impeller/water pump. Question
KX500 Crank Gear Spur for impeller/water pump. Question
Tearing my motor down and found the gear on the crankshaft is chipped and cracked. At first I thought they cut the gear on the crank! But apparently it seems to be a press/interference fit? Correct?

Re: KX500 Crank Gear Spur for impeller/water pump. Question
Yes, it is lightly pressed in.
59051-1128 is the part number.
I don't have the size of the shaft that goes into the crank.
So, if it breaks off while removing, just order a new one (If you haven't already) and when it comes in measure it.
Then get a drill that is a little smaller and go for it
Let us know the results..

I'm going to weld a nut on, heat the crank a little and try to slide hammer it out.

Propane heat was not enough, had to fire up the oxy/acc torch.

Very nice.
You can certainly weld a lot better then me.
Most of the time guys break them off which is why they need to replace them
Great job!
